ILOCOS ROADTRIP (Day 1 at ILOCOS NORTE)

We left the Metro before 11pm for our Ilocos-Visita Iglesia 3-day roadtrip.   Our first stop was at Vigan around 8:45am for a quick late breakfast.  Then from Vigan we headed straight to Ilocos Norte as the start point of our ILOCOS ROADTRIP with the following itinerary:

Region 1 and 2 boundary marker (Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte) we arrived at this marker at 2:45pm through the Patapat Viaduct or Patapat Bridge.  The small platform hanging by the edge serves as viewdeck overlooking the Pasaleng Bay.  At the bridge, we had a glimpse of Pagudpud Beaches and a shipwreck from the Japanese occupation.  I admired how the zigzagged viaduct was architecturally structured beside the coastal mountains of Pagudpud.

Bangui Windmills (Bangui, Ilocos Norte) – it was 4pm we reached the Bangui Wind Farm.  The Bangui Windmills made up of wind turbines, is known to be the 1st of its kind in the Philippines and is expected to supply about 40% of Ilocos Norte’s power requirements.

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation (Burgos, Ilocos Norte) – at 5pm we reached the jump-off and after 30 minutes of trek,  the rock formation.  According to some, it has been the most photographed attraction of Burgos with formations naturally carved through ages... Wow!

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse (Burgos, Ilocos Norte) – it was already 6pm when we arrived at the lighthouse but just in time for the beautiful sunset.  The Bojeador Lighthouse or the Burgos Lighthouse was established during the Spanish period fronting the Cape Bojeador and was first lit in 1892.  According to the locals, today the lighthouse still functions as a welcome flare to foreign ships entering our territory.  Another Wow!

We concluded our trip by an overnight stay in one of Pasuquin’s resorts.  We had a simple dinner and a karaoke “socials” before we call the day off.
